I first discovered CrossFit in 2012 as I began my physical therapy program at the University of Wisconsin, watching highlights of the Reebok CrossFit games on ESPN. I watched as Rich Froning dominated “The Girls” for the final event and was just blown away. Next thing you know, my buddy and I are attempting the workout “Fran” and I discover that I am truly nowhere near as in shape as I thought I was.

Growing up I was the fat kid. I didn’t first participate in sports or even maintain any type of activity until I reached high school and began doing high school sports and entering the weight room. From the moment I put my hands around the barbell, I was hooked. Fast forward 14 years, a degree in exercise physiology, 7 years of personal training, PT school and I had experimented with every resistance training related thing under the sun: bodybuilding, weightlifting, power lifting, circuit training, body weight exercises…and finally CrossFit. Today, the combination of being a Physio and a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer has allowed me to reach and help people throughout every step of their fitness journey, whether performing their first air squat and learning to move safely and efficiently, or working to perform a kipping pull up, muscle up, or improve their deadlift max. It’s a pleasure to work with our athletes both as their coach and as the Cream City CrossFit Physio.
